Workplace Violence & Harassment Training
As of January 1, 2021, legislation came into force to ensure employers prevent harassment and violence in federally regulated industries and workplaces (click here to learn more). This Workplace Violence Harassment training program has been developed to exceed these new federal requirements and is applicable to workplaces across Canada. Supervisor / Manager training is also available here.
Today’s work environments can vary greatly in size and location; from a few people to hundreds, from an office to a construction site. However, no workplace is immune to the possibility of violence and harassment. Through this course, you will be equipped with the knowledge of violence and harassment warning signs, types of violence, and common prevention techniques.
Throughout this course, students will participate in training to better recognize, respond to, and protect themselves against all types of workplace violence and harassment including:

Who Should Take Violence in the Workplace Employee Training?
Any person that works in a workplace environment that carries the risk of violence or harassment should be trained in how to recognize Violent Incidents, how to respond, and how to prevent incidents. High-Risk Professions may include, but not limited to:

- Any Worker or Employer in a Federally Regulated Workplace including:

Course Outline
1. Introduction and Overview
The first chapter in this course provides you with the course outline, learning objectives to complete, any additional resources, common statistics, and definitions of the types of workplace violence and harassment.
2. Risk Factors and Effects
The second chapter focuses on understanding the targets of Violence and Harassment. This can include the psychological, psychosomatic, and physical effects on the victim, and common risk factors that increase the chances of becoming a target.
3. Roles and Responsibilities
Chapter three goes over the responsibilities and roles of each member of a company or organization has, as it relates to employee safety and workplace freedom of violence and harassment.
4. Policies and Programs
This chapter provides you with the knowledge of what records and plans must be complete for employees, supervisors, and management related to Workplace Violence and Harassment. These can include policies, codes of practice, and proper procedures to follow.
5. Prevention in the Workplace
Chapter five goes over the three types of preventative measures a company can undertake around workplace violence and harassment. Workplace design, administrative practices, and work practices are all used in conjunction with each other to create a more safe work environment.
6. Handling Aggressive Behaviours
Chapter six goes in-depth on the warning signs that can possibly lead to violent or harassing behaviours, as well as do’s and don’ts, calling for help, and how to deescalate situations when safe and possible.
7. Reporting, Investigating, and Follow Up
The seventh chapter provides you with the proper procedures to report violence or harassment, investigations done by the company or third-party investigators, and actions taken when the investigation is over.
