This course was created to give hydrovac workers and supervisors a safe and effective overview of the operating procedures and regulations for using hydrovac equipment on a job site. The course covers a number of topics including emergency response operations, hydrovac excavation techniques, facility identification methods, and safe operating procedures.
There are 6 chapters and a final exam in this online training course. Once you pass your exam, you may print your certificates of completion (wallet & wall sized).
Training may be paused or resumed at any time, is fully narrated, and includes interactive exercises to ensure understanding of course content.

This course is designed to provide an overall understanding and safe working knowledge of hydrovacing operations and should be taken by anyone working with hydrovacing operations, or will be around hydrovacing equipment on the worksite.

Course Outline
1. Proper Hydrovac procedures
Lesson one provides an overview of what hydrovacing is, how the machines operate, their limitations, and proper safety procedures to follow while the vacuum is in operation.
2. Hydrovac slots at facility crossings
Lesson two explains the different types of hydrovac slots that can be used to confirm the distance between facilities, usually using excavation equipment. As well, you will go over the proper safeguard procedures for hydrovacing slots.
3. Hydrovac procedures for trenchless crossings
Lesson three overviews the main types of trenchless crossings, including boring, augering, tunneling, and directional drilling. As well as the proper procedures for each crossing type.
4. Hydrovac Advantages and Disadvantages
Lesson four explains the advantages and disadvantages of using hydrovacing as the main excavation method for uncovering underground utilities, and the different types of excavation methods that can be done with a hydrovac.
5. Hydrovac procedures for spills and leaks
Lesson five shows you what to do in case of a leak or spill while hydrovacing, and how to properly identify when one has occurred. The course also covers the proper way to monitor and identify potential leaks before they are uncovered.
6. Facility identification and verification
Lesson six goes in-depth on identifying underground facilities and verifying their physical locations, diameter, depth, their housing materials, and the utilities they carry.
