This Confined Spaces Awareness Course will guide you through all aspects of working in a Confined Space, entry and exit, to safe work and rescue procedures. Our comprehensive course will explain in detail what you need to know, emphasize key points and test your knowledge retention after each module. You should check with your employer to see whether or not you need Confined Spaces Training, and to which level of training you will be required to achieve.

This courses consists of 12 chapters and a final exam. Once you pass your exam, you may print your certificates of completion (wallet & wall sized).

Course Outline

1. What is a Confined Space?

Learn how to identify and define a confined space. This chapter covers an introduction to confined spaces, learning objectives, reasons for working in a confined space, assessing the hazards of a confined space and implementing a control program.

2. Confined Space Worker Training

Chapter 2 covers worker training requirements for individuals who work in confined spaces or where confined spaces may be a potential hazard.

3. Confined Space Hazards

Topics of chapter 3 include injuries and fatalities relating to confined spaces, controlling hazards, atmospheric hazards, preventing fires and explosions, hazards that are specific to confined spaces, and worker precautions.

4. Atmosphere Testing

Learn about the confined space atmospheric regulations, duties of the employer, assessing atmospheric hazards, atmospheric testing, flammable / explosive substances and their behavior in a confined space.

5. Safe Entry Into Confined Spaces

Chapter 5 covers ventilation equipment, oxygen deficiency and enrichment, the effects of reduced oxygen levels, confined space entry, good rules to follow, emergency procedures, and equipment.

6. PPE and Permits

Learn about what personal protective equipment (PPE) can be used to reduce worker risk and how to use various types of PPE. Students will also learn about compressed gas cylinders, torches, hoses, electrical equipment, permits, and entry certification.

7. Other Applicable Safety Notes

In chapter seven, students will learn about the isolation of energy and how to control the movement of materials, entry tags, and hazards that can be cause by human factors.

8. Classification

Learn how to classify a confined space as Class A, Class B, or Class C. Students will learn the difference between these classes and the unique hazards that each of them presents.

9. Checklist Items for Entry

Chapter ten covers how to develop a checklist for pre-entry into a confined space, what needs to be discussed prior to entry.

10. Frequently Asked Questions

The FAQ chapter covers common questions and scenarios relating to working in confined spaces. Topics covered include air monitoring, non-entry rescue, special cases, fall protection, welding in a confined space, and respirator use.
