Covering the basic requirements under OSHA regulations for Exit Routes and Emergency Planning (Part 1910.33), this online course covers the basic requirements for emergency situations in the workplace.

EMERGENCY PLANNING ASSESSMENT: Testing conducted in this online Emergency Planning course is designed to reinforce the information presented. A mark of 80% must be achieved in order to receive a certificate of completion. You are able to repeat the course twice if the pass mark is not achieved on the first attempt. Supplemental materials necessary to complete this course can be accessed online.

Upon completion of this online course, a certificate of completion will be available to download and print.

This course was created using standards that will allow playback on most internet capable devices with standard web browsing capabilities including Apple’s iTouch, iPad, and iPhone, as well as most other smart phones and tablets including those with Android and Windows operating systems.

Upon completion, students will be issued a wallet certificate which should be kept on their person at all times in addition to a wall-mountable full-sized certificate.

Course Outline

1. Action Plans

The first section of this course provides an overview of the basics of an action plan for a number of common emergency scenarios, which can be anything from fires to earthquakes.

2. Fire Prevention

The second lesson goes over the basics of fire prevention at home and in the workplace, as well as how fires spread and what to do when you are alerted to a fire.

3. Emergency Action Plan

The third lesson provides you with the basics of emergency plan preparation, putting them into action, and how to review the processes in case of a change or emergency.

4. Exit Routes and markings

The fourth lesson in the emergency preparedness course goes over the proper way to manage exit routes on a day to day basis, as well as how to identify exits and other emergency markings.

5. Fire Extinguishers

The final section of this course provides you with the knowledge and skills to properly inspect, prepare, and operate a fire extinguisher in case of an emergency.
